FIU Graduate Scholarship in Accounting
Coral Gables, May 18, 2007 –
Ocariz, Gitlin & Zomerfeld LLP today announced the creation of
an accounting scholarship in its name benefiting graduate
students pursuing accounting degrees at Florida International
University’s College of Business Administration.
“We’re pleased to give back to both a profession and an
institution that have served us well,” said firm founding
partner Hiram Ocariz. “Helping aspiring accountants pursue a
career in our field not only benefits our community, but also
it’s a gesture about which our firm can be proud.”
“We—the college and potential scholarship recipients— really

opportunities for our students ,” said Joyce J. Elam, executive
dean, College of Business Administration. “Time and again,
Ocariz, Gitlin & Zomerfeld has demonstrated a concern for the
needs of the accounting industry and the of business community
that it serves. This scholarship gift stands as another example
of that concern.”
The Ocariz, Gitlin & Zomerfeld Scholarship Program will provide
$2,500 apiece to graduate students with a minimum 3.0 grade
point average and residency in Miami-Dade County. Graduate
scholarships are designated for qualified students seeking
master’s degrees in the College of Business Administration.
Specific selection criteria and award amounts vary per
scholarship.
