Mirtha T. Carballo, senior tax partner with Ocariz, Gitlin & Zomerfeld, LLP, is an expert in the areas of domestic and international tax as well as tax research and general accounting. As head of the firm’s tax practice, Ms. Carballo is responsible for ensuring that the company’s staff and internal processes are up to date with the latest issues and requirements.

In her role as a senior tax consultant, Ms. Carballo assists clients in such areas as buying and selling businesses, due diligence, tax planning and estate taxes. In addition, she has extensive industry experience in export and wholesale of durable goods, professional services and real estate.

Ms. Carballo earned a bachelor of arts degree in accounting from Florida International University in 1991 and was accredited as a certified public accountant in the State of Florida in 1993.

She joined Ocariz, Gitlin and Zomerfeld in 1989, and became a tax partner with the firm in 1998. Ms. Carballo is an active member of the Florida Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Coral Gables Chamber of Commerce.
